Career Profile

I have worked in the W3C Web of Things field for four years. Web of Things’ challenge is to bring together the device’s connectivity and the products and solutions built on top of data. As data integration is always a pain point, the Web of Things standard proposes a more straightforward, standardized way of data integration and abstraction. But it is just a part of the equation. A common semantic understanding is necessary to achieve fast and scalable application development. Nowadays, this semantic integration is materialized in the form of ontology libraries. The WoT data model, Thing Description proposes an extension mechanism that can be semantically enhanced by ontologies. That closes the loop from a technical point of view. But it is not enough. We need broad adoption of these concepts and technics to significantly impact ontology libraries, which means teaching developers about new technologies and establishing tools and services to work with these libraries.

In my current role as a Product Owner of sayWoT!, I convince, teach and guide customers on bringing this approach of easy integration and an abstract data model into their applications. I had the chance to drive this semantic data integration in several Siemens Business Units: SI BP, SI RSS, LDA, DI PA. To accelerate the growth of this ecosystem around WoT, I also got the project lead for an open-source tool called ediTDor, which aims to make it easier to create and view Thing Descriptions.

Throughout my career, I experienced several roles which gave me a broad overview of the software development challenges. I am always focused on developing high-quality software that solves problems for our customers (internal or external). I focus on designing and developing solutions that make software products easier to use, more scalable, and faster to develop. This is how I led my team, with which we achieved development speed and quality.

In the future, I will further push the spread the adoption of a common data abstraction and a common semantic library. I want to do this not only internaly but also externaly and extend the network and adoption of this technology

Experiences

Product Owner

2021 - 2022
evosoft GmbH, Nürnberg

sayWoT! is the solution that tries to easily connect and integrate data from different devices. As a Product Owner I try to further develop this solution to make it more useable, faster and more scalable. My taks are not only the further development but spreading the idea of using the open W3C Web of Things standard, that sayWoT! is implementing, to connect devices. In this role I am not only talking to potential customers and convivincing them, but also giving talks about the standard it self and with that fostering and improving the ecosystem around sayWoT!

Developer

2017 - 2021
evosoft GmbH, Nürnberg

Within evosoft I worked on a lot of software developed for the cloud and in the Siemens context. I also got to know a lot of domains within Siemens, ranging from PowerPlant to large Motors and from production plants to smart infrastructure. Projects I worked on:

  • Development of a standard-compliant adapter implementing the W3C WoT Standard
  • Development of a middleware for the purpose of data transmission
  • Development of a system for optimizing power plants on the AWS platorm

Developer

2017 - 2018
Datev eG, Nürnberg

develop a Frontend for newly developed Identity- and Accessmanagement system in Angular and deploy it in the companies own serverfarm

Softwarequalityassurance Consultant

2016 - 2017
imbus AG, Möhrendorf

Sketch, develop and maintain Test autmations in differnt domains and infrasturctures. Projects included:

  • car infotainment system
  • bank Identy- and Accessmanagement system

Projects

Beside the work I was always interested in tikering with hardware and writing software for different purposes

homeassistant - I Am just a User. - Open source home automation that puts local control and privacy first. Powered by a worldwide community of tinkerers and DIY enthusiasts
Multisensor Node - This project shows a super easy way to get started with your own DIY Multisensor to use with Home Assistant, a sick, open-source Home Automation platform that can do just about anything.
BBV Application - A tool for managing the payments, documents and files to share of a club
ASV Möhrendorf - Homepage for my local football club
